Whether it's your first or 25th, have a great race

Registration is done, bibs have been distributed, the main event in nearly upon us.

It is important to note that for many people taking part in the News and Sentinel Half Marathon Saturday it will the first half marathon they have taken part in.

In an online poll that has been on this site for the last week, 31 percent of the 140 people that responded to the poll indicated that this was the first 13.1 mile race for them. 34 percent indicated that they had competed in under five, 19 percent indicated they had taken part in six to ten halfs, nine percent of the racers had taken part in 11-20 races, six percent of people responding indicated that they have taken part in so many halfs that they have lost count.

Regardless of the number of halfs that you have taken part in, enjoy the one that is tomorrow. A lot of great volunteers spend literally thousands of hours to make sure it’s a positive experience for the racers. On behalf of all of them, good luck.
