Alene Reta, 27, crossed the Market Street finish line at 1 hour, 4 minutes and 15 seconds, off his mark from 2008, but well ahead of the pack in the 23rd running of the annual Parkersburg road race.

Slusser successfully defends men's walk title

PARKERSBURG —Don Slusser wasn’t sure how he was going to fare in his defense of the News and Sentinel Half Marathon walk championship.

He and wife Tammy didn’t arrive in Parkersburg until late Friday night and after driving their mobile home for more than 200 miles from Monroeville, Pa., they naturally were tire.
