Time to register for '24 races

I know the roads are a combination of icy and wet.

I know that it gets dark early.

Those are all great excuses.

If you are like me, you need something to motivate you to get off couch and do something, anything.

One of the biggest things to do each year in Parkersburg is the annual News and Sentinel Half Marathon. For over 30 years, it has been motivating people to get up, go outside and prepare to do something they did not think they were capable of.

Before you can race in any race, though, you need to register; once you register for something, you are more likely to prepare for an event.

Now — as in today — is your starting line to being able to do a half marathon. Registration is open for the August 17, 2024 race, in fact, a dozen of your fellow races have already signed up. They have gotten a head start on you.

Right now you can register one of two ways. You can register online at NewsandSentinelHalfMarathon.com. Just click on the big red registration button. Or you can download a paper application at the same spot and mail it in. You can even bring it to me if you want at the newspaper office at 519 Juliana Street.

Registering early can save you some money.

You may not win the race in August, but you can be in the lead pack to register.
