Do I have to pre-register?Pre-registration is required the half marathon and two-mile race. You can either register online or use a paper registration that you can print using the link above. You can also pick up a registration form starting in June from locations throughout the valley.
Children taking part in the Tiny Tot Trot and Junior Races can register up until a few minutes before the event.
When is the race in 2010
The half marathon starts at 8 a.m. on Aug. 21, 2010.
When and where is packet pickup
It's Aug. 20, 2010. Times for day are as follows:
2-9 p.m. Registration, Packet pick-up & Runner’s Expo (Parkersburg Municipal Building Market St.)
5-9 p.m. Pasta Dinner
6 p.m. Race Course Tour meet at the start line (3rd and Avery Sts.)
When are the races?
The times for all races are as follows.
Aug. 21, 2010
Start line: 3rd and Juliana Streets at the Towne Square Parking Garage Entrance.
Finish line: 6th and Market Streets.
6:00-7 a.m. Last minute Packet Pick-Up
6:30-8 a.m. Pick-Up Timing Chip at Starting Line
7:50 a.m. Wheelchair Start
8:00 a.m. Half-Marathon Start
8:05 a.m. Two-Mile Start
7:00 – 11:30 am: Showers available at Downtown YMCA (716 Market St.)
9 :45 a.m. Two-Mile Awards Ceremony (Bicentennial Park, 3rd and Market Sts.)
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Pizza Lunch
1:30 p.m. Half Marathon Awards Ceremony (Smoot Theatre, 213- 5th St)

What will I need at the race?
You need to make sure you have your race number on and it must be pinned to the FRONT of your shirt or shorts. The WHOLE number must be visible. You should also make sure you fill out the medical information that is on the back. It will help us treat you if you have a health problem on the course. You should also have the electronic chips on your shoe that is used for timing. Your chip will be attached to your bib when you pick it up.. Your chip must be attached to your shoe AT ALL TIMES either by a plastic tie or by weaving it through your laces.
Are the miles marked?
Yes, every mile will be marked on the right hand side of the road with a sign. There will also be stand-up makers each mile. There are also markers at the 5, 10, and 15K marks.
Are there special rules for the walkers?
Yes.
NO RUNNING – One foot must remain on the ground AT ALL TIMES.
For half marathon participants: There will be walking judges throughout the course. Disqualified half marathon walkers will be notified as they cross the finish line. There will be no further explanation to the Walker of any infraction by the Coordinator or Observer.
-Disqualified walkers will not be eligible for awards and they will not be included in any race results.
-The decision of the Race-Walking Coordinator is final and there will be no discussion.
Are the roads closed?
Many of the streets are closed, however on main highways the course is separated from traffic by cones. Participants must stay on the right hand side of the road at all times except when directed by the Parkersburg Police Department. Stay on far right of pavement when not passing or jockeying for position. Some flow of vehicular traffic is necessary on some streets.
Are there check points?
You must pass each checkpoint (timing mat) along the course. Anyone failing to do so will automatically be disqualified.
Is there a heavy weight division?
Clydesdales: Must be weighed at Packet Pick-up on either Friday or Saturday. You will not be eligible for Clydesdale prizes unless you have been weighed and meet weight requirements, (215 male, 155 female).
Are there aids stations?
Yes. Water stops are located approximately every mile with water and Gatorade, some have sponges. They begin at the 1.8-mile mark. There are 17 total stops.
What if I get sick during the race?
Medical personnel are located along the course and at every water stop. First Aid and massage tents will be available in the Finish Area.
Are there restrooms on the course?
Yes, they are available at the Start Line, 3-mile, 6-mile, 8.5-mile and 11.5-mile marks, and at the finish line.
Is there a place where I can take a shower after the race?
Yes, showers are available at the Downtown YMCA, located at 716 Market St., from 7 a.m. - 11:30 am. YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN TOWEL.
What happens at the finish line?
Finish line area includes electronic timing mats, food, drink and a medical area. To ensure efficient and accurate results, please cooperate with Finish-line workers. Your number and time will be electronically recorded.
How long do I have to finish?
Course will close shortly after 11:30 a.m. Finish area will be left open as long as possible. After closing, all runners/walkers must move to the sidewalk and finish the course at their own risk. Homecoming Parade begins at 12 p.m. down Market Street.
For late finishers, a golf cart and bus will follow the race and assist anyone needing it or pick up anyone who cannot continue. Upon returning to the finish area, there will be a bus/van to take these late finishers back to their hotel, if needed.
Do I have to pay to attend the pasta dinner and the pizza lunch?
Entrance for Half-Marathon participants is included in entry fee (runners and walkers should bring race bibs).
Two-Mile participants can purchase tickets for $3 by showing bib at the door.
