Get Ready to RunRegistered Runners now online, as I struggle with a 10KYou may now find a list of registered runners for the half-marathon and two mile. That section of the website also contains a list of the elite runners. This list will be updated weekly so you can see if we have gotten your registration. You can also check to see what friends have registered. This past weekend I ran my first 10K. I give major props to those who run the half-marathon. When I began my job as half-marathon coordinator I felt it would be hypocritical to try and convince people to run the half if I wasn't even running myself, so I began running with my dad. My dad, Grover Wallace, is a runner who has participated in many half-marathons in different places, along with running every year in the Parkersburg Half. Within a week and a half of starting to run a distance more than a mile (which was about as far as I usually went) he had me getting up at 6:30 a.m. on a Saturday to travel to Fairmont to run a 5K. Just a short week later, we were on our way to Clarksburg to do a 10K. I was a nervous wreck at the start but crossing the finish line with my dad was one of the greatest feelings of accomplishment I have ever felt. I will not be able to run the half this year because I will be working it, but I am going to continue my training and hopefully will be crossing the finish line next year.
