A runner's diary
August 3rd 10 Miler
Backing off the miles proved to be just as trying as the longer runs Monday night. On a hot muggy evening every bit of summer breeze was appreciated. Matt McCready came zipping by on Washington Avenue and the bulk of the group left me in their wake as I plugged along in 2:32 for the course. My ankle hurts as bad as ever and I only hope that come race day I can start pain free. Lots of ice and Aleve are numbing it to a degree but I continue to struggle to keep my normal exercise schedule. I have backed off my calories lately as I just cannot keep the pace given the toll on my body. I hope the final training runs are easier on my joints and psyche as right now I am physically and mentally struggling. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about the race and how hard it will be on my body. See ya on the road!
