A runner's diary

July 20th-Belpre & Back

The Monday afternoon 9 mile training proved a little better than I’d anticipated. I was ready to give up on running after the previous week’s course and the impact it took on my joints. Nonetheless I headed out a few minutes after 5 for the friendly confines Civitan Park. I felt pretty good the first 3 miles even though it was warmer than I thought it would be given the mild temperatures Monday morning and at lunchtime. The Bridge always proves difficult for me and Monday was no different although I do enjoy gazing south and taking in the beautiful confluence of the Little Kanawha. The bulk of the 5:30 folks passed me on Washington Boulevard and it is still nice to see the friendly faces and receive the positive comments. I am glad so many of you enjoy my insights on the training process. Mike went flying by me but turned to note his interest in these blogs and I appreciate the fact someone other than my parents are reading. I made it back to the park in time to visit with Lou and Michael Molinaro briefly before I headed home for a quick dinner and some ice bags on my stress points. Overall I feel better than I have the past few weeks although I am dreading Sunday morning.

I hope everyone is getting excited about the Half and I hope training is going well for those who’ve participated in the RCRWC training program I know the volunteers have put a lot of time and effort into creating a positive experience for all of us, I really do appreciate their efforts. See ya on the road!
