WV runner

volunteer now

we had our monthly meeting last night to discuss the upcoming Parkersburg Half Marathon. During the discussion several possible volunteer positions were brought up that needed filled. If you are not yet ready to tackle a half marathon or maybe unfortunately an injury has you sidelined, think about being a volunteer. A good example is the bike crew. Donna Kramer put this group together a while back to help runners/walkers on the course and bring in the last of the participants. The bikers wear really cool shirts, very visible to participants and fans, and can easily maneuver around the course. The first year, Donna had to ask for volunteers but as soon everyone realized how cool this job was, she had more volunteers than she knew what to do with. Each year, a volunteer job comes open for one reason or another. Though it can be a chore at times, volunteering is the most rewarding thing we can do a human beings. We have some openings for volunteers this year. Is this the year you step up and offer to help? If you say yes you will never regret it. The Parkersburg Half Marathon committee put on a race that is second to none in my opinion. Be a part of it this year. Instead of being a me, join a we. We would love to have you.
