How Smart Is Your Watch?

June 18, 2019 - Lauren Leaman
Are you one of those people who wears a watch everyday? If so, is it smart or is it stupid? If you own a smart watch, which I'm sure many of you do, then you probably already know all of the cool stuff it can do to help motivate you to get fit and stay fit. For those of you who do not have a smart watch, it is a great training tool you might want to consider investing in.

The most popular smart watches for fitness are Apple, Fitbit, and Garmin watches. I got a Fitbit for Christmas and absolutely love it. It never leaves my wrist. There are so many crazy things it can do.

The features that are provided on these watches are incredible. If you're looking for motivation to get fit, don't worry your watch has got you covered. As it so kindly reminds you to move every hour when you do not reach your step goal. You also have the ability to compete with your friends, family and even co-workers. How many of you are in a step competition with your boss like me right now?

The watch app allows you to track your eating, water intake and sleeping habits. If you are looking to get in shape, the app will help you see what you are feeding your body, if your drinking enough water (as long as you log your intake on the app), and if you are getting enough sleep. Three very important factors in creating a healthy lifestyle.

These smart watches are great for those of you who are recovering from a surgery or managing a heart condition, as the watch will track your heart rate so you will know when you are working too hard. You can even check out the app on your phone or computer to see your heart rate at every hour for that day.

The app also gives you a lined map of your running or walking workout. Whether you are running or walking a 5 mile loop your app will show you the exact route you took. Where you can then also access your heart rate pattern to see which points you were working the most.

Which smart watch is your favorite?
